I am a Software Developer.
My love for technology has always guided me
I am a software engineer with a special passion for data. I got my start with Java back in high school and have since mastered a wide variety of frameworks and technologies including Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, MongoDB JavaScript, React, Redux, D3.js, cheerio.js, Python, and R.
I’m constantly building new projects to utilize new tools and challenge myself to keep learning. I’ve designed full-stack web applications and data visualizations such as Striva, built with Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, React, Redux, Node and PostgreSQL. Strava is inspired by the Strava web app, where users can store and view their workouts. To display maps, I chose to use OpenStreetMaps, which I downloaded onto a home server so that I could gain experience connecting files from multiple places without ready-made tools or cloud services. I love working with data, and I have been sharpening my skills with data visualization so that I can effectively and concisely convey data to anyone, whether or not they have a STEM background. I also just completed the Wikipedia Reliability Rater (WiRR) using JavaScript, React, Redux, Cheerio.js, D3.js, Request and MongoDB. WiRR takes Wikipedia articles and rates their reliability based on the types and amounts of sources referenced. To display the data effectively, I used the Javascript library D3 and implemented a radar graph, in addition to a donut chart and bar chart to show the data effectively and concisely. The database was utilized so that users could store their favorites in case they were working on a project and would like to come back to specific articles, or specific categories.
I know my skills combined with my desire to solve difficult problems make me a great addition to the development team. I am excited for the opportunity to move forward in this process and continue to learn and grow with big data and data visualization.
